This last week has been absolutely off the hook with offshore fishing in the Ft. Pierce area. Dolphin, Sailfish, Blackfin Tuna, Wahoo and Kingfish are readily taking baits. Fishing in depths between 120 to 200' of water has produced the best action. Dolphin have been mostly in the 10-20 pound range however a few larger fish around 35 pounds have been caught using trolled ballyhoo. Blackfin Tuna have showed up in masses and are readily taking tuna feathers dropped out far away from the boat with green being the hottest color. The big suprise is that under the Blackfin seem to be a decent amount of Wahoo that will happily take a bridled Tuna dropped down 20' in the water column. Sailfish action has been decent for this time of the year however most of the Sails have been smaller fish in the 40-60 pound range. Kingfish action has been steady with those finding live mullet and live lining.
Smokin Em Charters has a few openings for the month of October as well as openings in November and December. Book your trip early to assure your date as they are filling up quickly.
