The last of the big Dorados run is almost over, fish in the 30#(cows) and 70#(bulls) till last of april. Gearing up for the white and blue marlins, yellowfin tunas and wahoos offshore, and big king mackerels nearshore from late april thru Oct.

About two weeks ago, I was in western Puerto Rico. I had set up a charter with Captain Francisco Rosario. My wife joined me. We had a great time. I caught my first tarpon on fly. It was not a big tarpon, but it was a tarpon...by the way, caught it on a clouser.

Blue Marlin catches, and lamentably, during a Tournament, several fish over 300 lbs were killed, while other local anglers and ourselves were catching and releasing from 2 to 3 fish this weekend.

July was lousy with very few fish(4) tagged and released. Last trip on the 16th tagged and released 2 blues in the 300 to 400# size and that is the best sign that they are having a late run extending into Oct.

Fly Fishing in Puerto Rico west coast. Puerto Rico has long been known as one the best places in the Caribbean to the light tackle and fly fishing. In the South west side of the Island we have different places to challenge the fish art like mouth of the rivers, reefs, loading platforms, mangroves, artificial lakes an estuaries.

Fishing conditions are ideal for Fly Fishermen. The Tarpon are forming feeding frenzies, attacking schools of bay anchovy fry, most of the tarpon are in the 10 to 40 pound range,with several bigger fish also seen in the area, these fish are excelent sport for 8 and 9 weight fly tackle and light tackle spinnig gear. Also,some Snook are also being caught in these frenzies.

We are still catching dorados, wahoos and experienced several white marlin releases the past 2 weeks. Raised a couple of Blues, no action. Yellowfins here but not hitting baits.
