Fishing yesterday, not on a charter, just with an old friend of mine we wanted to sightcast to some reds. The same flat that's been holding tailing fish hasn't changed. We hit the water late, around 9:00am and worked the backwaters first with some live shrimp. After boating several reds, it was time for the tailers as I wanted to get home for some Sunday football by 1:00pm!!

We had several shots at the spooked "Sunday weekend reds", and our last was the best. Around noon and getting close to football time on tv, I poled my bud up to several fish in groups of 3-5 and he seemed a little rusty with his casting spooking them.......till the last bunch. I got him within 10 yards with 10 knot winds to his back, perfect presentation, and the battle was on! After a great fight we boated the beauty, going right at 27". HUGE belly, giant fan on his tail, and weighing in on the boga grip right at 9.1 pounds! Now there's a slob for a slot fish!!

Bio: Growing up on the east coast of Florida I started fishing at a very early age mostly on the inshore waters of the Indian River Lagoon. Now with the experience of learning every corner of the back waters and fish behavior patterns, I am a full time fishing guide on the Mosquito Lagoon. Besides writing monthly fishing reports for my website, Coastal Angler Magazine, and various other organizations, I also enjoy working with and am on the pro staff for Rip Tide Lures, High Roller Lures, Berkley, Pure Fishing, Daiichi Hooks, and Costa Del Mar Sunglasses.
