Sunday will go down as a pretty darn good day of fishing Mosquito Lagoon in a "spot" tournament. Sure the most spots my partner and I brought to the boat was five, but going through 100 pigfish in three hours was well worth our entry fees for a great day on the water.

Twenty plus knot winds were the story as we pulled 48 reds in the boat with to many to count either spitting the hook or us being trigger happy! After boating 10 we figured, why not keep a good count while these fish were stacked up 10 yards from my boat willing to eat. With the wind to our back it made it very easy to cast in the 3-4 feet of water along a mangrove shore line.

No trout today, but our target of redfish were found, and out of the 48 fish you would think we could get more than 5 spots. That's why these types of tournaments are for all anglers.

Back at the check in we spoke to 2 other fishermen asking us where to check in the fish. We pointed them to the "spot" check in as they were telling us about their only red of the day sporting 10 spots. Go figure!!!

Keep it up, that trophy 1000 spotter is out there!!!!
