Skeena report March 12/ 2007

Looks like winter is pretty much over. Most of the local snow and the snow on the lower mountains is disappearing fast. Rivers are just starting to show a little rise . Still low and clean. Water temp. is starting to warm up and a few fry are starting to show. Nice to see that. Lots of fall and winter fish in some of the local rivers. Most of the summer runs are up in the lake and should start dropping back in the next couple of weeks. Last couple times out we hooked a few spring run steelhead. New mint bright fish. An average day lately has been about 4-5 steelhead on the fly and 10-12 on gear. A good average for winter steelhead fishing. The fly average will rise very quickly with the water warming up. Still very little pressure on the rivers. A few locals fishing and no tourists yet. March 15th guiding starts and we are looking forward to a great spring. Like I have been saying all winter there is lots of steelhead around and lots more to come.

There is still time to book. From March 15 right through until the end of 2007. We have a very long season and we are licensed for all the rivers in our area Spring steelhead from March 15 to the end of May. Chinook April 15 until August 6 . Sockeye the month of August. Summer steelhead August and September. Fall steelhead October through December 31. Coho August 15 through October 31.

We have a fly fishing client that is booked April 2-8th for this spring steelhead. He is looking for someone to share the cost of a helicopter for a day on one of our remote spring steelhead rivers. This is a beautiful trip. Very aggressive steelhead. During this time frame there is plenty of other rivers to fish also. These rivers can be accessed by jet boat or raft.

We can offer all inclusive trips with everything included or we will just guide you. What ever you prefer.

Salt water fishing starts May 1- through August 31. Chinook, coho, halibut, Ling cod and great crabbing. We fly fish, cut plug and troll for the salmon. Chinook is May, June and early July. Mid July and August coho on the fly is a blast. Lots of action. Halibut, Ling cod and crabbing May through August. We still have some space available.

ECO tours are all year round with prime time being March through November. We offer RIVER TOURS ( Jet boat or rafting), BEAR VIEWING, BIRD WATCHING, WHALE WATCHING, FIRST NATION TOURS, HIKING & HORSE BACK RIDING.

FLIES We have a great selection of all the flies that work best in our rivers. I know that most of you guys tie your own flies but If you would like to purchase some of ours, please let me know.

If you are already booked that is great and we are looking forward to your trip, if your not booked yet then we hope to see in 2007.

Cheers,
