Over the last couple of weeks the fishing has remained pretty good. There are still quite a few fish to target out there. Lately the blackfin tuna have made a pretty good showing and some boats have been able to boat three or four fish in just a couple of hours of fishing. The key to catching blackfins is to fish late in the day and use plenty of live chum. The great thing about fishing for the tuna's is that there are still quite a few large sailfish and plenty of kingfish to keep you busy in between bites.
Dolphin fishing has been pretty good as far as the average size of the fish but lacking in numbers. Last week I fished a dolphin (mahi-mahi) tournament where over 190 boats participated. After a full day of hardcore fishing we had four nice fish in the box and we came in 18th place. Aside from a lot of large dolphin, several wahoo and tunas were also brought to the scales.
This week I will be leaving for Chub Cay in the Bahamas and hope to have a good report next week. All we need now is for the weather to hold up. The month of May is pretty much booked already but I have several days open in June and July including some weekends. Give me a call and let's catch some fish!
