Sal Mattino

Hello,I am Captain Sal from St.Lucie Sportfishing Charters,Port Saint Lucie,Florida. Our day started with filling our livewell full of threadfin herring, better known as "Greenies". Then we headed south to the loran tower. We started off the morning by drifting live greenies along a good drop off which in turn rewarded us with a double hook up of Big bonito's! Iam mean big!!Weights ranged from 15-18lbs. Then a nice kingfish decided to eat a live greenie. The initial run was a screamer! Unfortunately a Bottlenose Dolphin decided he wasnted lunch and ate my kingfish. The kingfish based on the head size that I retrieved was about a 12-15 pounder!Oh well, I guess Flipper has to eat too.

After being exhausted in this summer heat with numerous hookups of bonito's, we headed northeast to an area called the,"Hill". We ther maybe five minutes and hook up a Amberjack weighing in at twenty pounds. The day ended with a nice Sailfish ona fifteen pound test line on a 7ft light tackle rod.We got the Sail to the boat on three seperate occasions, until the Sailfish won the fight! Thats my report fom St. Lucie Sportfishing Charters,Boatingg saftey first! Capt. Sal.
