Sal Mattino

Setting out, for an evening full of promises and anticipation of catching limits of snapper & grouper or any other bag limits! This was the mission for the night! We headed out from the Fort Pierce inlet boat launch seeking the prize snapper & grouper fillets.

First stop was the North Bridge with an outgoing tide. The current was moving along enough to use two or three ounces of lead to keep your rig on the bottom.Shortly after the first cast were some of the best strikes of the summer pulling up mangrove snapper aproximately 10-16 inches in length. You have to pay attention or they will steal you bait in a heart beat and you won't even know it!

After about an hour of catch and release of Mangrove & Lane snappers, we moved North in the river for some addtional action.Seeting up just north of the North Bridge we starting some non-stop action with the Ladyfish. Some of the Ladyfish would take you around the boat with before landing on the deck for a release.Only one grouper was caught for the evening along with two scorpion fish all released unharmed.

Another great evening for summertime snappers with St. Lucie Sportfishing Charters, I'm Capt. Sal,Thanks for joining me, Boat safe & fish well!
