Jerry Brown Spectra Line and Leader Reviews

Details:Spectra?fiber braided fishing lines have been around for quite some time and have enjoyed widespread acceptance in the past few years, despite the fact that the Spectra?fiber is opaque and not the best for the presentation of a bait or lure, therefore requiring the use of a less-visible monofilament or fluorocarbon leader. This first generation Spectra?fiber line required a bulky knot at this connection from the braided line to the monofilament leader, difficult to tie correctly and never developing to 100% of the line strength. All these companies keep coming out with new and improved braid, but jerry brown spectra is still the best. I fish it on all my offshore gear and never have any issues.

If you don't have killer eye sight than splicing this is hard to work with. I prefer powerpro or straight mono for my big game fishing. The hollowcore is a good idea though

Rating: Wasn't thrilled

I wasn't thrilled with this line at all. I used the 130 hollow core spliceable line I prefer mono instead. I used it for about a year or so the line never frayed and the wind on leaders held well but the no stretch has been a problem for me particularly with swords and kingfish. I wouldn't recommend this line for swording or kingfish, however it is great for trolling dolphin and wahoo. I despooled my 50s and put the line on my penn kgs. I think this line is ideal for deep droppin as well. Next month I will be buying my first deep drop setup and I am having that reel spooled up with the 200 hollow core.

Rating: Pleased at first, but prefer mono

I originally bought 120lb and spooled up my 80wide. However, i now prefer mono due to the fact that you can feel the frays, easier to untangle, and much safer on your hands.
