Okuma Axeon Spinning Reels Reviews
|
Details:The Axeon, with its 12 ball bearings, is made to the exacting demands of the hard-core surf fisherman. They feature a worm shaft oscillation system for even line lay, crucial for extending the distance of the cast. The rotor brush system keeps looping line from getting tangled under the long stroke conical spools. The ASB -"Anti Snap Back" bail locking system, keeps the bail open during casting. The large, oversized one-way roller bearing eliminates all slop from the handle play, and allows for instant hook set. We even treat the stainless steel rotor bearing with a special extreme anti-corrosion coating for additional protection, because we know what prolonged exposure to salt can do to even stainless steel. With one turn of the handle, one thing should be clear-- At Okuma, we understand "Surf Fishing."

I use them both 2 times a week in salt and brackish water. They are both spoleod with 20lb power pro and they cast a mile. I have landed 20lb Redfish and 27 Gator trout with this reel. I fish them with DOA CAL's as well as top water. I also fish live mullet on a cork. I rinse them lightly with fresh water after every use and oil them when I change my line. I have never had an issue with this reel and actually am on Amazon to buy another. I work at a major sporting goods store that use to sell these and they are excellent reels for the money if you take care of them . Rating: The Penn AF4000 has Reviewed on January 22, 2014 by Peter from PZGTJ4qH The Penn AF4000 has been an expensive dinptpoisament for me. After 3 months of ownership and about 7-8 saltwater trips, cranking of the reel freezes up at various intervals in the rotation. In addition to being very annoying, the sudden resistance while cranking makes it difficult to properly work an artificial lure and of course hard to land a fish. With high gas prices and inflation at a 28 year high, it is tough to spend this kind of money for this type of performance.I now need to determine if I am going to go through the pain of trying to send it to Penn's warranty center where I will need to cover all the shipping costs and hope they determine it is covered versus normal wear. All of which does not help keep me on the water with tight lines. As an aside, I have owned about 10 Peen reels over the last 8 years. They have ranged from heavy grouper reels to lightweight inshore models and they have been great. This reel has certainly been an exception.
