I spent the last week and a half practicing for the Snag Proof tournament. My Partner and I had some really big fish located but they never really bit during the tournament. We pulled in and had a limit in 10 cast maybe less. It was fast though. We ended up with 17.25 for our total weight and had our smallest fish croak on the ride in which cost us a pound. We would have finished in 10th but the 1 pound penalty for a dead fish cost us 5 places and we fell to 15th. Oh well we had fun anyways.

When the conditions were right during my practice we were getting 50 to 75 bites a day but as always when the tournament day rolled around it wasn't the same. It had rained the day before and sunk the mats which isn't good. As the day went on the mats got better and better and then the bottom fell out and sank them again.

Fish are biting small crankbaits, buzzbaits, horny toads, jigs and worms also but there isn't anything better than watching a big fish bust through the mat after a frog.

If anyone wants to get out for some hot frog action book your day now before they fill up. It will only get better.
