It seems like the larger Trout are starting to show up again in the deeper water in the river. As we get closer to fall and the water cools they will show up in big numbers and the big Flounder will start there move also…

Float fishing a live shrimp in anywhere from 8 to 20 feet of water is a good way to catch the larger Trout right now. Some of those areas in the river will give up some of the big bull Reds also.

The big bull Reds are starting to show up in the river and should be on fire by October. You can't keep them but they are great fun to catch. You want to make sure you use heavy tackle so you don't kill them by fighting them to long. There are a lot of them in the 20 to 30 pound range. Always make sure they are ready to go before you release them…

The water has been a lot cleaner recently so we have been able to do some flounder gigging. Some of my recent trips have produced some nice Flounder.

Bio: Being a native of Northeast Florida I have enjoyed the excellent fishing and wildlife this area has to offer. I have been fishing the Jacksonville Florida area over 30 years with many a memorable fishing trip starting when I was a kid. We are in between and only minutes away from Amelia Island and St. Augustine, we can enjoy the fishing any direction. From downtown to the mouth of the ocean and all the back water in between.
