The Fraser river is on the rise with all of the rain and recent snow melt, but all of our Fraser River Sturgeon fishing guides were hard at it this past week as I stayed at home nursing a bad back, man I wish I was out there, the sturgeon fishing has really picked up lately with more and more larger fish showing up. We have been fishing the deeper holes in the 30-60ft. depth. The bait of choice has been eulachons with a few fish being caught on lamprey eels as well.

The Eulachons have invated the Fraser River by the millions and can be seen jumping everywere. The sturgeon will be gorging on these baitfish for weeks to come, so the sturgeon fishing should remain fairly consistant. But don't be afraid to mix it up a little as I've heard of some sturgeon fishers using fresh squid lately and doing quite well.

The sturgeon fishing really seems to pick up for around two hours after a tide change in the lower Fraser River, so make sure to fish these times, you'll be glad you did. Our sturgeon guides have been concentrating their efforts on the stretch of river from Mission to Fort Langley and have been catching 6 – 10 sturgeon daily and many over 6 feet long.

Cheers & Tight Lines
