Kabetogama/Namakan Fishing Report March 29, 2009

The season for winter sports and hard water fishing is starting its wind down, but low temperatures lends itself to anglers and snowmobilers.

This past week anglers were doing their best to find and catch a few crappies, with a few folks looking for walleyes on Namakan.

The crappie bite has been as unpredictable as the weather, chances are the best bite has been when the lakes are slushy impeding travel.

This past weekend featured very cold mornings with bright, sunny afternoons. The afternoons did provide some steady action for anglers, but travel through slush is very difficult.

Meltdown of our 100" plus snow season is, and has been in progress. There is lots of snow still in the shaded areas with bare ground patches beginning to appear.

Water levels remain in the middle of the rule curve which causes some concern for possible spring flooding; we now put our water levels in the hands of Nature.

Hope to see you soon,

Happy Spring,

Phil & Ellen Hart
