The last couple of weeks have been very productive for us fishing the creeks and backwaters of the Ten Thousand Islands for snook. The latest series of cold fronts that have worked their way through the area have made for a challenging early morning bite but as soon as the water temps have the opportunity to warm up throughout the late morning hours the bite has been consistent fishing the first half of the outgoing tide. We've been targeting fish laid up in mere inches of water on the shallow dark mud flats as well as in the deeper troughs and mangrove cuts. We've been using a variety of soft plastics like Mirrolure Lil John's and DOA paddletails rigged on 1/8-1/4 oz jig heads.
