I had the distinct pleasure of being an invited Captain for The BBI (Burdette Beckmann, Inc.) 2010 Hooked on Kids Charity Fishing Tournament. 100% of the proceeds derived from this event are generously donated to Sheridan House Family Ministries.
The day started like most trips before sunrise gathering bait. In the dark bait was nowhere to be found but like magic the moment it got light white baits appeared in huge quantities. The 20 mile ride from the Skyway Bridge to West shore Yacht Club in Tampa was an amazing ride, I just soaked in the beauty Tampa Bay offers.
Upon arrival I was in shock to find out I had a live well pump fail and my bait was all dead. Host Captain Billy Nobles rescued Captain Steven getting Captains Mike Anderson, Woody Gore and Jim Lempke to give me a scoop of bait. Thank you all!
With my anglers Robert Sr. and Harold onboard we made the run to Tampa Bay eastern shoreline to get our snook. My anglers were great my I feel bad my spots did not produce. We lost several fish and only landed a small snook and redfish. Harold was gunning for the worlds record smallest Grand Slam! Peter Sr. jumped a decent snook but as fast as it jumped the hook and bait went flying.
Peter Sr. and Harold are classy guys and truly appreciate what the day was all about. Helping Kids, its doesn't get better than that. The tournament may be over for 2010 but you can donate or better yet participate next year.
