Friday's crew had a great day fishing; we caught a good mess of Sheepshead and a couple of nice Black Drum to spice things up. We had a big Redfish on, but he took off into the rocks and we lost him. Oh well, sometimes, the fish wins.

Saturday's crew was from my old college stomping grounds, Bowling Green, Kentucky. Both my wife and I went to Western Kentucky University years ago. Anyway, we caught another mix bag, with Sheepshead, Black Drum and a nice slot Redfish. Other than the wind on Friday and Saturday, the fishing was pretty good.

Sunday's crew wanted to get into some of this Sheepshead action, and that's exactly what they got. We boated a good mess of Sheepshead and even got into some Spanish mackerel for a little while with most of them being keepers.
The big thrill of the day was the Mola mola (Sun Fish) we saw just outside the pass to the east about a half-mile off the beach. We had gone out a little ways into the gulf to try and get into some more Spanish or Redfish. I spotted the fin of the fish and kept my eyes open for Cobia, as sometimes they'll hang out under them, but this wasn't the case today. The cool thing about this fish was that it just hung out for a good 5 minutes letting me take a few pics. I've seen a few offshore, but have never been able to get a good picture, but today was a real treat. They are an awesome looking fish! You just never know what you're going to see in the gulf!
See you on the water.
