After the water yesterday, I was dreading today. Actually, the weather did not get worse, it was much better. A family of 6 came out to enjoy rockfishing, not even knowing what rockfish were. Three generations of one family, and relatives. The bite was not really 'Red Hot!', but all had limits and we were back in the harbor before 1pm. Nice coppers, some olives, a couple yellowtail, chinas, a few blues, a quillback, and ubiquitous Starry's. All the lings were short, so the big lings are hanging out elsewhere. We fished outside the Red can, 3 Rocks, rockpiles down towards Martins, out to the deeper end of Martins. Hailing from Iowa, the gear they brought would not have supported a six to 10 ounce weight, so rent rods with Farallon Feathers were the order of the day.
