Amelia Island and Mayport (inshore).

9/16 to 9/21?? There's not much we can do about the weather.
Boy, am I sick and tired of hearing about how terrible the rain and high winds we're experiencing in NE Florida this week are.
With every coomplaint from a talking head on the TV and radio, I think at least those people are at work making money. I'm not.
Just rescheduling charters when I can, and reserving some future trips.
But what these landlubbers don't get is we are finally getting what we've been needing for so long....actually all summer long. And that's enough rain to bring the super saline waters of the river back to where they should be. The enviorment needs this rain. Without any severe storms, any where near us, all summer the drought like conditions make life tough. I'll take the week with no work, and keep plugging on.
The river needs the rain, the fish, the fisherman, all need the rain.
Along with it, has been gusting winds into the 30+ knot range at times. And in my neighborhood we call that a "free tree trimming". My whole property is nothing but twigs and branches everywhere.
With the end of months full moon and huge tide swings. I hope to have those white shrimp that have kept fisherman and casual shrimpers busy to the south, not so busy anymore. Because I want the fresh water to flush those fish and shrimp my way...towards the coast the way Mother Nature usually does "BEFORE" Mid September.
I have high hopes that my daily routine is going to change by the end of Sept and into early Oct.
In 2004 & 2005 when we actually had rain all summer due to storms and Hurricanes. The Speckled Trout fishing was awesome in the river, and the shrimp flushed right on time, in July and August. By September I could go to sea walls and watch the Trout attacking shrimp by the thousands on the surface early in the morning.
That was back in what seems like the good ole days now.
Stay tuned, because I'm very hopeful the fall season will be "busting loose" real soon.
And BTW, last year on Oct 14th I fished a tournament with clients and it was super cold at 6am in the morning. We caught Trout after Trout as my crew shivered, from the surprise morning chill, as did I.
MY PREDICTION: Oct 14th this year will be warm, and the cold snaps will come maybe in November.
Call it Farmers Almanac intuition...or just the studying of patterns. Let's see if I'm right. I bet I will be.
