Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 3/1/08
Water Temperature 49 degrees
This past week produced some numbers for my clients and me. The fish are moving up from the deep starting to get into the pre-spawn run and fishing is getting better and better. The constant changing of the weather every 3 days or so, has been a problem but if your on the water with some warming sun then you probably had a great day.
Most of the week I spent up river fishing above BB Comer Bridge finding bass in 3 to 7 feet of water. The bite has been coming on generally rattle baits, moving it slowly over the new grass growth or stopping and dropping it during the retrieve. We did fish Punisher Spinner Baits, Mister Twister Worms, and Tight Line Jigs catching fish on all of them but the main numbers came on rattle baits, red and royal shad in color.
The biggest fish this week was about 5.5 lbs. a total best 5 of 19 lbs.
We targeted red clay bottom, new grass growth and drops throughout the areas we fished.
One of my clients from this past week won the Bass Master Week Ender Series on Guntersville 3/1/08 fishing areas we targeted during our trip together. It was great to see him win and even better to have it be a pre-tournament trip I participated in.
