Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 4/27/08
Water Temperature 73 degrees.
This past week on the water was just so-so. The high pressure made the week a little tougher on the sunny days to find a bite. The bass moved early before the sun got up and after that you really had to slow down your presentation to keep catching fish. It also appeared that the bass moved continually this week, an area you were catching fish one day did not produce the next. You had to change patterns daily to stay on fish. On the cloudy days the fish bite just about all day, but you again had to slow it down.
Most of the week I fished mid river and some up river, fishing humps, ledges, drops and cuts both on and off the river channel. Just about every day we managed to catch a good 5 to 8 pound fish, with the biggest this week being also the biggest of the year for my clients at 8 pounds 1 oz.
I fished with several tournament fishermen this past week getting ready for some up coming competition over the next week or so. The big producer in baits this week was a Punisher Spinner Bait ¾ oz. in Ghost color. We also fished Tight-line jigs, Mister Twister worms and lizards.
I have available dates this next week and on through the month of May.
