With all of the wind and cold fronts getting to a location that is holding redfish wasn't a good choice as the return trip would have been in 4 footers in the afternoon. Not too good in a flats boat. Trout to the rescue! The late winter trout fishery is fantastic along the Nature Coast of Florida. We fished some rocks that were holding some very nice trout up to seven pounds. The smallest was just a little squirt but still a trout by any other name. A day saver indeed. The trout were taking on golden shrimp patterns as we let them fall from a short swim, just the the real shrimp swim. As soon as the fall would begin, WAM! It was like trout magic.Try to keep the sun in their eyes so they cannot see you. This simple tips pays huge. We released all that were fooled and moved into a bayou as the tides came in. The tide fell short and the snook never came in nor did the reds. The point here was that the trout saved the day and we had a lot of fun with them. Keep looking for trout for now and when this windy and cold stops next week, look for some very hot snook and redfish action. Please check out my website to learn the areas that I charter in. Contact TropicBay com to book a charter and keep that fly rod ready.

Thanks,

Capt. Pat
