Fishing report for the week ending 11/28/2010
Thanksgiving came and went and another great week of redfishing, warmer than normal conditions have allowed the scools of small redfish to stay on the oysterbars for another week. Fishing in San Carlos Bay and Estero Bay with the right conditions the redfish bite was off the chart at times. The higher water is always better but even on low tides deeper holes are holding sub slot reds in the hundreds.
Fishing with Dan and Sean Quinn on saturday in pea soup thick fog we caught 60 reds in the 2 1/2 lb class in two hours with live shrimp on a popping cork. There was literally a fish on every cast, we also had a couple of slot reds fishing cut ladyfish on a grass flat. I can see these rat reds moving into the creeks and canals soon with upcomming fronts but its very incouraging to see the fish in these numbers.
Trout have been good on the grass flats in 3-6 ft. of water either live shrimp or a white redfish magic is working best. I have seen a few pompano and mackerel around the passes and expect the pompano to get better with cooler weather.
