Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 6/7/08
To duplicate last week would have been a tall chore! I must tell you however it was still great fishing but not as good as last week. The bass moved a little deeper because of the heat this week but they still were active and the catches were ranging from 20 to 35 fish a day with a good fish or more every day. In fact there were several days where we had 8 to 10 fish between 3 and 5 pounds plus some smaller ones.
I fished mainly the mid to upper part of the river this past week targeting depths between 6 and 14 feet and found fish at all depths. We had a top water bite early and late although the top water bite was not as strong as the past week for me.
The top water bite produced some bigger fish this week but just not as many as the past. Baits this week were fairly simple we fished Tight-Line Jigs ¾ oz. Mister Twister Lizards and finesse worms and big 11-inch worms. We caught a few on deep running crank baits, and some on top water baits.
In order to get the bites in the mid hot day sun we had to back off the edges to about 15 feet to find the active fish. The bass are active the fishing is fun, let's have some of this fun together.
