Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 3/29/08
Water Temperature 58-60 degrees
This past week was not much improvement over last. The bass are bedding and the water level keeps changing, and it has made for some difficult times on Guntersville. With the exception of one afternoon where we had an hour or more flurry of fish where we caught one about every third cast, the bass have been extremely difficult for my clients and me.
The lake has been loaded with pressure from tournament fisherman and the bass are feeling the pain. The times we did catch fish we caught them on Punisher Spinner Baits in watermelon color 3/8 oz. In size and Mister Twister 6 inch lizards. We had a few good size fish on a Tight-Line Jig 3/8 oz. Tequila in color. The key when we did find active fish was green grass it appeared if the grass was newly in growth you had a chance at catching some fish.
The good news is with the spawn starting there will soon be post spawn fish and it should improve daily over the next week, we just need a little warm weather and all should be well.
