Don't fret the off colored water. In the days and weeks to come, the water will clear, the water temperature will continue to rise and the Bass will turn on with a vengeance! May is one of my favorite times of year on LBJ. Break out the top waters, crank baits and rattle traps and hold on! All over the lake the bass will be on a voracious feed after recovering from the post spawn and starting their transition to a summer pattern. Focus on flats and creek channels that lead to deeper water early and late with top water baits. When the topwater bite slows, move to the breaks off the same areas with crank baits, carolina rigs and drop shots. Always keep a wacky style worm rig tied on to follow up missed top water strikes. If you ever considered a guided bass fishing trip on Lake LBJ, May is one month you don't want to miss.
