One of the longest true cold snaps in history in North Florida has keep temperatures in the low 30's for over 2 weeks now. The last week has had lows in the upper 20's at night. COOOOOOLD!!!!!!
The water temp dipped below 50 in several areas that I have fished recently. The fish will adapt and start feeding again I'm sure after a few days.
Early last week was still good for me. The Drum bite was good as well as getting into some nice Red fish action at the low in coming tide. The fish were slow so you had to soak the bait for a while but they did react. The few Reds we caught were in the 6 to 8 pound range.
After the tide got to high in the creeks it was off to the Trout. I know we caught over 50 Trout on plastics and there were some nice ones mixed in. All in all another great day of fishing in the dead of the winter in Jacksonville Florida.
