With the fall weather approaching I thought I would try to help you find some fish on the lake. The early fall is one of the best times on the lake if you can figure out a pattern that will produce that bite that sometimes seems tough to find.
The key to finding them is baitfish, and I must tell you, the lake is full of baitfish; probably the best baitfish spawn I've seen in many years. This will and already is making the fish active; with the baitfish lurking all over the lake it will be time to get away from those slow moving baits and bring out some of your faster moving baits.
I'd start with Punishers Flame Spinner Bait in watermelon color; their tandem gold and red willow leaf blade is already paying off. You can purchase these locally at Waterfront Tackle or Keller's Tackle fishing it off the edges of the grass and using a stop and drop method is producing good solid tournament winning fish. Something I always do in the fall when there is this great numbers of baitfish is to start back throwing my trap, you'll be surprised that this bait worked over the grass in windy days will pay dividends.
Certainly as every fall if you like the "rat bite" it should be in full swing shortly and will be a great producer of good keepers. Make sure you're rigged correctly, braided line, heavy 7 ft. 6 in. rod, elbow braces so you don't get your arm broke and have at it.
This is going to be a great fall, I promise you we may be in for the best bass fishing we've seen this year. I have some available days in September and October, let's go fish those largemouth bass together.
