Mid-December in Alabama is the time for anglers to expect a sudden rise in the water temperature of any lake. Especially a flatland lake like Guntersville Lake. Alabama's largest, man made impoundment at over 67,900 surface acres of some very shallow, weedy water. A lake full of big bass!
With plenty of water for anglers to target during this winter season (and Guntersville Lake over 75 milesfrom dam to dam),and over two more months of winter, anglers need to prepare and schedule for each fishing trip to Guntersville lake.
Like, just after a few days (or during a week long),winter warming trend. For instance this week in Alabama!
* Weather Predictions for December 10 - December18; This weekends lows near 28 degrees and cloudy skies, along with a daytime high barely reaching 50 degrees, followed water temps on Guntersville lake that were already low, at 52 degrees.
By Monday the lake's water temps could be in the upper-40's!
But Tuesday through next weekend shows a sudden, winter warming trend taking place. The nights will slowly warm into the fifties. The daytime highs will creep up into the (predicted) low-70's. This is the time to go fishing!
The rainy front coming in Thursday coupled with these warming conditions will have big Guntersville lake's bigbass moving shallow to feed.
These "warming trends"also takes place in Alabama all throughout the months of January and February. So, make plans now to be there!
