We use mullet and bonita as strip bait when trolling with planers around Fort Lauderdale.  They make excellent strip baits because of the flashy action and scent.

Everything eats them including bonita, kingfish, sharks, mahi, tuna and sailfish. There are many days when we outfish the livebaits by trolling because we cover more ground and have better opportunity to get a bait in front of a fish deeper by using the planer.

In this video I should you how to get 4 strip baits out of each mullet.  You will need a sharp knife to do this.
