New Years Fishing Resolutions
Every year as we get in to the New Year the first thing we do is make some ridiculous resolution about losing weight or being a better person but when all is said and done you can't keep your resolution promises because they are really unattainable. So I have an idea let's try some fishing resolutions that do make sense and you have a real chance of following through.
The first one that comes to mind is simple and not very costly; we have all lost fish because of a poor hook set so let's make better hook sets. Well if you're like me your hands are not as strong as they use to be, so my resolution is to strengthen my hands. So I went out and bought a hand grip strengthening device for nine dollars and I am doing 500 reps every day while wasting time and it's working; and it is a fishing resolution that I can do and helps me with very little cost.
Next resolution is to find some new areas of the lake that will hold fish that do not get the everyday pressure some spots or areas get every day. So it's been very simple solution, every day I am on the water as a resolution I try to find something new, whether it's a spot I have never fished or a creek I know very little about or just a way to line up on a spot that I have never done before. You just have to go do it, change your ramp or move off your favorite spots for just 30 minutes of your fishing day and you could very well find something new and it pays you dividends.
Every year I hear folks say this is the year I am going to catch a trophy bass, well as a resolution you can change your favorite small bait for large big fish bait that will really give you a real chance of catching a trophy fish. The only difference is when you pull up to your never fail spot go to a big fish bait and see if it might finally put that trophy in the boat. Your resolution might be as simple as going from a oz. trap to a 1 oz. trap and roll the dice on a big bite.
Simple easy New Year's resolutions you can keep, try it I believe you will be satisfied with your next resolution.
