November is here and for the most part October was Very warm. In November we will typically see a few cold fronts come through that will drop the temputures into the 40's accompanied by that dreaded north west wind that makes it difficult to fish. We will also see the annual migration of fish headed south or into the rivers looking for a little warmer water.
Spanish mackerel and King fish will hang around until the water temperatures drops through 70 degrees, The best concentration of mackerel will be just off the gulf beaches, A bit of a run from the South Shore but well worth it if you like to hear your drag scream.
What snook we have will head into the rivers and deeper water of Tampa Bay looking for warmth. The snook bite will be tough this year because of the low number of survivors of the 2010 freeze.
Trout will be on the deeper grass. I like fishing trout with a DOA shrimp under a Cajon thunder. That is a un-beatable combinations.
Redfish will move near the many oyster bars that fill the back country of Tampa Bay. Try using a pin fish under a bobber or Cajon Thunder. Another good way to catch Red fish is to use cut lady fish or cut up pin fish. This dead bait adds sent to the waters. Above all you must have patients.
November is a great time to fish and with the warm weather of October I would expect that the early fall bite will get cranked up and continue for a few weeks.
Tarpon should just about be gone but don't be surprised if you hang into one near the Alafia or the Little Manatee rivers. We have a few Tarpon that stay around all year but they to will be seeking warmer water.
October was a bit slow and I am optimistic that Novembers bite will be good as long as we get our air temperature a little closer to normal.
