Guntersville is a unique lake, and every fall, as the grass dies the bass fishing picks up. No lake in the country offers the grass fishing like Lake Guntersville; we who have a chance to fish it every day are blessed. The best thing about it is you have such a variety of types of fishing you can do, and the lake produces in just about every pattern you can think of.
The late summer bite is always a great time to fish the traditional rat over the dying grass. Snag Proof products produce great times; in fact every year there is a Snag Proof Tournament in late August it brings a couple hundred fisherman. This year was no exception; the Snag Proof Tournament brought a big field of anglers and took nearly 25 pounds to win.
Once September sets in the top water action becomes fierce and steady. There is always a variety of top water baits that produce fish. Buzz frogs, buzz baits, spooks, pop-r and rat fishing are just some of the great producers. As the grass scatters more the rattle bait bite comes back, the spinner bait bite is strong and hook ups are often. It just doesn t get any better than Guntersville for fall fishing.
As we get into October the grass gets more scattered and the bass hang on the points and edges of the grass, they move further into the creeks and the crank bait bite is producing a hundred fish a day. Last October I had days were each person in my boat had catches of 50 to 75 fish each on crank baits. It was fast, furious and a lot of fun.
