SPRO Leadership Carving Paths
Prior to the first SPRO Tournament in 2012 tournaments were ways for creative minded groups or individuals to make money. The enticement of most tournaments took on many different aspects to help put money in the hands of the individuals that spent time and money to make them a success. They even make money for school groups or benefit needy causes that help many from school bands to police organizations and all in-between. Rightly so, there are many expenses when you put a tournament together and in most cases it was and is the right thing to do, and these tournaments do help needy causes.
In 2012 when the first SPRO Tournament was put together for the first time the thought process changed it was not about making money or covering expenses; it is all about paying out every dollar back to the fisherman. Making the attraction of the tournament all about the fisherman who have entered the tournament and making sure that every dime paid by the fisherman is paid back to the top 20% of the field. With the winner earning a big share of the entry fees and the fisherman being rewarded with every dollar paid by the participants.
To me, this is changing and leading its way into the history books as the SPRO Tournament has more than doubled from the first year to the second; and will take another big leap in participants this year. The unique thing about this is the tournament has come from a 1st year beginner tournament to maybe the biggest tournament of the year on Guntersville in a very short time; with others trying to build their entries in their tournaments with the same format. The leadership of SPRO is certainly carving paths and others are following suit; the fisherman is being put on first base and reaping the benefits of some great ideology on the part of SPRO!
Take that thought; add more "swag" given to the tournament participants in value than their entry fee and you have a recipe that is changing how many tournaments are run. September 6th 2014 will be a great success; come join us and make history.
