With the sailfish bite at it's height and Treasure Coast billfish tournaments attracting some of themost reputable boat owners, captains, mates and anglersin the world to local waters, it's nice to know thatmany of these same individuals take time out foran event like The Pink LadiesSailfish Tournament and..."fish for the cure"!
For the last tenyears this charitable eventhas beenheld at the Fort Pierce City Marina where anglers involved in 'high stakes' tournaments along the Treasure Coast congregate in December and January. Male anglers step aside, for this is an 'all girls' angling effort and you had better believe that they are out to make a statement as well as have fun.............or maybe the two are inseperable.
As a jesture of good will,sportsmanship, and an understanding of the 'needto beinvolved' in the hardships of life, many of these world class tournamentcrews take time out to fish the Pink Ladies one day tournament to help raise funds for a local charity called 'Pink Tie Friends'. Monies raised here helplocal breast cancer patients overcome the high cost of medical treatment and in turn bring relief and hope to many individuals!
This years event took place on Sunday, January 3rd. Congratulations to the'Hawg Wild' for taking first place, 'Play Time' 2nd and 'Floridian' 3rd.
