The Atlantic Salmon season just wound down and fishing was great up till the final bell. Although the last week of the season we ended up spending more time in the woods hunting for woodcock and grouse there were some memorable large salmon landed.
We are looking forward to opening day on April 15th. If this global warming is real we should have open water be that time.
This seasons Atlantic salmon counts were strong with more large salmon in the 35 to 40 pound range. Grilse numbers were a little low on the Northwest but as the counting facilities missed the majority of the run due to high water the river produced good spawning escapement.
