Because of all the rain we've had in the last three few days I had another cancellation. Its fun because people tend to cancel when it gets a little wet and the river comes up and yet that is some of the best conditions to fish this river. You don't want to force anyone to go out in the rain but if they don't want to go -they don't want to go and that's fine- it just means that I get to go fishing. So we fished the rain today and it actually didn't rain that much at all. Mike and I went out just for an afternoon float. We put on this afternoon and the water was up even from Monday and had more color in it but there was probably only a foot of visibility. However the fish were on the bank active again in a very big way. In a five hour float we moved over forty fish, it was ridiculous. We had so many fish flashing on their streamers and got some really nice browns. I got a nice 21 inch brown that had a lot of color in it and Mike got a gorgeous 21inch rainbow that was in good shape. We probably only put 10 fish in the net but moved so many fish and had so many fish chase. We were fishing an unweighted streamer at the back fly and so it was just barely into the surface so we saw all the fish, they looked like they were trying to eat dry flies when they were hitting it. They were just smoking it and coming flying out of the water when they hit it. It was a lot of fun, really entertaining and you know what- pretty nice to be out on the water when there's no other boats out. Pretty much everyone has canceled their trip and yet you have some of the nicest conditions to actually fish in as long as you don't mind sticking a raincoat on and dealing with a little bit of rain. Really, of the 5 hours it only rained on us for only 45 minutes. 45 minutes of rain for 40 fish is always a good equation in my books
