Its been a while since i have been on the water due to getting all ready for winter season. This week i had the pleasure of fishing Ben Sharpe of Miami. The idea was to research some deep reefs and ledges in search of Grouper and Yellowtail Snapper. my thanks go out to the Boys at South Dade Outfitters who supplied me with all the live bait i needed for the day. On the way out a sure sign that changes are coming was the school of Bluefish we ran in Southern Biscayne Bay. We managed to get a few Bluefish in the box and kept heading out to Key Largo. Our first stop consisted of a deep ledge in 140 feet of water. We managed to catch a few Yellowtail Snapper and some Trigger Fish. Unfortunately we did not manage any Grouper. We ended the day just north of The Elbow in Key Largo securing a total of 12 Snappers and a Dolphin that just happen to show up on our chum slick. For the nex week looks like we are starting to get into the usual Winter pattern of Northeast Breezes with more and more cold fronts approaching. It wont be long before the Mackerel and Winter species like Sailfish start moving in.
