With March kicking into gear we are in the stage of winds one day and calm the next, making fishing challenging for those who want to burn up some reels. Launching from Rivergate Park we decided to start the morning off working some of the docks that had Mangroves close to the area as a good escape route. Using DOA Terror Eyz, 3" Storm Lures and MirroLure Poppa Doggs we had the first fish hooked up within a few casts. A large Snook in the "Slot" had been holding under one of the many docks that are over looked. We continued working 2 other docks in that area which also produced another "short" Snook. After fishing this area for a little longer we opted to move to other docks relatively close. Using the same lures we immediately hooked up to another Snook which went in the box and 3 more "shorts" to be released. We continued working the docks and deeper holes finding more Snook and Jack Crevalle in the 20 pound range. With time running short on the day we ran to one of the deeper boat basins and after making a few casts we hooked up on 2 Tarpon in the 30 pound range simultaneously.
SO, if your looking for a productive day of fishing this time of year even when the wind is blowing..take a ride and fish the back country.
