Hello everyone,

As we all know the swine flu has had us here in Mexico in the news over the past few days. All the news has left our beaches and hotels pretty empty this week. I think that this problem is something we all need to take seriously but here in Baja we are much safer than the big cities on the main land.

With the very light traffic here right now it has opened up the beaches and giving anglers all the room and space one could want to chase the very good numbers of rooster fish, jack crevelle, lady fish, and pompano we have along the beaches right now.

The beach fishing has been really good giving anglers very good shots at some very nice rooster fish and jack crevelle . We continue to see big schools of both roosters and jacks that have been hanging close to shore as the spring spawn continues. Most of these fish have been in the ten to twenty pound range with some bigger fish to forty pounds mixed in.

Inshore we have had a good bite for some very nice bonita in the area of punta colorada to the lighthouse. These fish have been in the five to eight pound class. We continue to see some very good sierra fishing in this area as well.

Offshore we have as many marlin as one could want. The only problem is that most of them are not eating what the anglers have to offer as they are full of squid. Some boats are getting one or two on lures that represent squid but with the number of marlin in the area this number should be higher. I was out fishing for marlin last Friday and we saw over fifty fish between jumpers, trailers, and sleepers. We also would see schools of marlin feeding on the surface chasing squid but they were up and down faster than you could say "Look feeding marlin!".

Over all we have excellent weather some great fishing and all one could want. I understand everyone's concerns about what we have been experiencing here and around the world. To my knowledge we have no reported cases here in Baja. Feel free to give us a call if you have any questions or want the up to date latest info on what we are experiencing on the fishing and or flu front.
