Fishing along Florida's Space coast has been good reports Captain Keith Mixon (www.mixinworkwithplay.com). Throughout the Banana River early morning fishing has paid off for sea trout. During this time of year it is not uncommon to see many anglers targeting trout before first light. With a stealthy approach, my clients have been able to catch these fish near schools of mullet in areas around the Thousand Islands. Small top water lures have worked exceptionally well for these fish which have weighed up to six pounds. In addition, small schools of redfish have been seen working the flats in two to three feet of water near Patrick Air Force Base in the Banana River. Gold spoons and scented jerk baits have worked well for several reds measuring up to 24 inches.

Inside Port Canaveral, mangrove snapper cannot resist live shrimp when fished around several different types of structure. In the past few days, many mangrove snapper were brought to the boat measuring up to 16 inches. Many fishermen have had success when fishing an outgoing tide.
