The past two weeks the fish have been active with the water temps hanging in the low 70's.We have been seeing schooling fish busting shad on main river points and shellbeds. This action should last until the first week of Jan. The next couple weeks we will start to see some fish shifting gears and getting into the Pre Spawn Mode and by the first week of Jan we will start to see the first groups of spawning fish move to the shallow banks of the river.

The spawn on the St Johns River will last until early April which means four full months of Trophy Bass Fishing. Wild Shiners will produce the best results during Jan but on the warmer days artificial baits will work well.Bitters Bait and Tackle Has The New Naked Swimmer Swim Bait Out And IT Looks Great. It is great to see a company produce a swimbait that we all can afford. They have the Naked Swimmer in Watermelon and Green Pumpkin colors right now but as always they will be offering the bait soon in over 80 colors. I am proud to say that Dec 10th 2009 marked my 30th year as a guide in Central Florida. The key to my success has been having clients return to fish with me year after year.
