Saturday Sept. 20th was the 2nd annual Battle of the Badges Inshore fishing tournament in New Smyrna Beach with over 350 anglers registered. Some large gator trout were brought to the boards with the biggest going 8.7 pounds. Now there's what Mosquito Lagoon is all about!! The largest red went 7.6 with a close runner up in 2nd place of 7.4 pounds. NICE slot size fish. The tourney raised over $130,000 to benefit the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches which is a very important organization to our community.

My anglers took 2nd place in lady anglers redfish division, being beat out by 1st by a couple ounces.

Most spots on a red with over 350 anglers was 9...not very many with the Hunt For Reds in October tourney coming up giving away a $25,000 boat, motor, and trailer.

Fishing will remain hot in the coming months with the mullet run and changes in temps. and that's why were know for our year round fishery.
