The boats of the Beach Haven Charter Fishing Association have been spending some time recently on family trips to the inshore artificial reefs where they are finding very steady action.
Captain John Lewis of the "Insatiable" had a group out recently for some fluke fishing when they managed to catch some very nice black sea bass. Unfortunately all of the sea bass had to be returned to the water as the season is currently closed. On another trip he had the Sterling family out for a fantastic morning catching a combination of blowfish, kingfish, sand sharks and small sea bass. Youngsters Charlie and Conner had a ball with non-stop action. Captain John has some plans I the works for some tuna trips.
Captain Lindsay Fuller on the "June Bug" has had some family trips out to the inshore artificial reefs looking for fluke. The Wilker family was out fishing as a send-off to the oldest son Chris who is going into the US Marines. They caught and released some nice sea bass along with some nice concentrations of fluke but all were too short to keep. Captain Lindsay made an adjustment in their drift and promptly picked up two nice keeper fluke about 19-inches in length. Captain Lindsey had the Fabrizzi group out for a half day trip on the "June Bug" and although keepers were hard to come by, the young boys on the boat had a ball with the non-stop action.
Captain Fran Verdi on the "Francesca Marie" reports the flounder fish has been good recently with keeper fish going in the box on every trip. He is fishing in the Mid-Atlantic 500 this week in Cape May.
