The 2011 fishing season for the Captains of the Beach Haven Charter Fishing Association is officially under way. The boats are ready to fish bay waters for summer flounder, close to the beaches for striped bass, the artificial reefs and wrecks for black sea bass and fluke, inshore ocean waters for bluefish, and offshore for bigger game fish such as tuna, sharks, and billfish.

Captain Dave Wittenborn of the "Compass Rose" says he believes the upcoming warm weather will be heating the water up to give the bottom fishing a boast. Although the striped bass bite has been slowing recently as the fish make their way up the coast, Captain Dave reports there are still some bass and sharks mixed in feeding on the bunker pods.

Captain Fran Verdi on the "Dropoff" reports he is running charters and open boat trips after fluke and sea bass. Captain Frank Camarda and the head boat "Miss Beach Haven" is also sailing for fluke and sea bass.

Captain Lindsay Fuller finally has the "June Bug" back from North Carolina and reports he picked up a couple of mahi-mahi on the trip up the coast.

Captain John Lewis who runs the "Insatiable" reportedly trolled the 25-fathom hole recently and picked up six12-pound bluefish and one 31-inch bluefin tuna.
