Despite unseasonably cool water temperatures, some of the boats from the Beach Haven Charter Fishing Association have recently put together some decent catches. On the 4th Captain Frank Camarda and the "Miss Beach Haven" made their way to the reef but could not find any water warmer than 59 degrees. They boated several quality sea bass and several fluke topped by the captain's 5-pounder. Carl Kelly of Tuckerton won the pool with a 6-pound fluke. On Sunday despite cold water, thick fog, and a steady rain, the "Miss Beach Haven" had one of its most productive days of the summer. They boated quite a few keeper fluke over open bottom with John of Morristown winning the pool with a 5.5 pound fluke. Captain George Finck of "Sparetime Charters" had Bob and Trish Mears with their daughters reef fishing off Long Beach Island for a catch of 78 sea bass, 27 of which were keepers. Captain Fran Verdi took the Jim Hinds party on the "Cousins" for some reef action. The weather cooperated, but the fish had no appetite. The party boated 24 fish with 9 keepers. Based on reports from other boats that day, the "Cousins" had a decent catch. More information on the association can be obtained at the web-site www.fishbeachhaven.com
