Saturday I ran 2 charters with similar results one on the incoming the other on the outgoing tides. Our target species was Snook, Redfish and Trout better known as a Tampa Bay Grand Slam. Bait was surprisingly easy considering we had just had a tropical storm blow through several days earlier. While the water was murky the baitfish were thick. With snook on the agenda I want to have ample live bait for fishing and chumming.
I was explaining to my anglers oh the use of circle hooks and where to cast the bait. I made a example cast and before I could hand the rod to Stephanie a snook blew up and was screaming drag! Minutes later Stephanie was posing with her first ever snook a chunky 24"s long. Her next cast had the same result so Jeremy decided it was time to put down the camera and join the action. Before long it was a double headers and snook flying everywhere.
When the bite slowed I started chumming and that fired the snook up again. Moments later Stephanie was in to solid fish that made several spectacular leaps not to mention long runs under and around the boat. Ten minutes later Stephanie was posing with a beautiful 30" snook. We took several pictures then carefully revived then released the beautiful snook.
Mother Nature was fast approaching so we called it a day.
