Water Clarity: 6 inches
Hello Everybody,
PSALM 112: 1, Praise ye the Lord, Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighted greatly in His commandments.
LAKE PALESTINE: Well the bite was Slow to Fair with one Big Ole Bass up to 7 lbs. being hooked this week and some smaller bass also. Bass hit Nichols spinnerbaits in chartruse/white combos worked around grass and vegetation. Water degrees was about 85 degrees with water level comming down about 3 feet. Water is stained in the back of the creeks and the North end with clear water from Mid-Lake to the Dam areas.
Boat docks will produce especially when the Sun gets hot. Fish the docks in or near 8-10 feet of water and concentrate on the shaded areas of the dock. Texas rigged creature baits work well for me like the Nichols creature bait and the Phantom Stink Hog in watermelon colors.
Drop shot rigs worked around the rip- rap and old bridges will get you some good Bass. I use a spinning reel on a 6'3" to 7' rod medium heavy spooled with 10 lb. mono or flurocarbon. I put a 1/8 ounce weight on the bottom 12" from a 1/0 hook. I personally use a swivel about 6 inches up from the hook to prevent line twist. Use a watermelon candy or watermelon worm or green pumpkin. I like Gambers 7 " worms or zoom 4 inch depending on the mood of the Bass.
LAKE SAM RAYBURN: Wow fishing was great yesterday with over 30 Bass comming to the boat with one monster over 8 lbs. hooked on a Texas rigged Phantom Stink Hog in Watermelon colors. The nichols spinnerbaits in white/chartruse combos worked well in the morning bite and produced a good limit as the Sun got hot the wacky rigged Phantom Stinko in watermeolns also and the Phantom Texas rigged Stink Hog produced through the rest of the day.
Spinnerbaits worked around Hydrilla and grass on Main Lake points worked in 1-4 feet early. Wacky's and Texas rigged creature baits worked in 4-10 feet around cover and grasses around the points also produced a great day. 85 water temps and the Lake is in great shape.Use caution from the heat and take lots and lots of ice and put on Sun screen several times a day. And remember a Bass does not need 30 feet of water if He has a good 20 foot creek channel near by with hydrilla or grasses of any kind to hold in.
