Smith Lake
July 18, 2011
Tonight I had a mother and daughter combo interested in reeling in some stripers. So we meet at Ryan Creek Marina alittle before 6:00pm. With four hours to fish, we headed out in search of some stripers. They told me their only fishing experience was deep sea fishing last summer. Our first spot was about 1/4 mile from big bridge. We started out long lining 1oz. bucktail jig and it didn't take long for things to pick up. On our first pass they doubled up. As the two worked their fish back to the boat, I grabed the net. Once we had both fish aboard, it was time for a picture with their fish. When I ask them to hold the fish. They said almost together, why don't you hold the fish and will take the picture. So I hold the fish and they took the picture. This theme continued throughout the trip. They reeled them in and I held them up. We caught fish in that one area from 6:03pm to 8:20pm. Once that ended we cranked up the engine and headed for a couple of lights. We ended up catching two more off the lights. Our biggest fish was only 11 pounds, but we caught plenty of them. Lots of numbers today, but none with any size. The girls seemed to have a blast though. Guess that's all that matters. One of the funnest four hour trips in a long time.
I have been fishing from big bridge to the dam. I have found plenty of fish within a mile of big bridge. Caught most of our fish at 30 feet tonight. All but two of our fish more and 1oz bucktail jig with four inch curly tail trailer. The top two colors to tonight were white and white/chartues.
