Sturgeon fishing trips on the Fraser river are producing some excellent results over the past 2 weeks as water temps are on the rise and fish are aggressively feeding and on the move. We have been fishing in the productive Mission area also known as the 'Sturgeon Capital of North America'. Lots of big fish are caught here each year including mammoth fish up to 1,000 lbs.
At this time of year the fish start to get really active and dish out a severe fight, combining jumps and forceful long runs up to 300 yds which often requires us to 'chase' the fish down river or up.
Our last trip saw 2 guys fight about 8 fish and the biggest was about 8 feet but unfortunately that fish found a underwater stump and wrapped the mainline around it. But they still got 2 bigger fish in the 5-1/2 foot range.
Sturgeon fishing is amazing through the spring-summer-fall time and well worth the trip here. Great Salmon fishing will also be experienced this year from late July to late November including a massive Sockeye run that is estimated to be 30-40 million fish!
